I am afraid about my future.
There. I said it. And if you are reading this, I suspect you are too.
A note before you read anything else
This About page was built with the help of AI. Every idea, every fear, every belief behind the words is mine — but I used AI as a tool to help shape and express them. It took hours of conversations, reviewing, questioning, rewriting, and pushing back before it became something I was willing to put my name on. That process is exactly what this blog is about. AI is powerful. But it still needs you to make it real.
Who I am
My name is Martin. I am 42 years old, I have small children, and I live in Ireland — having moved here from Eastern Europe in my early twenties, like so many others who made the same journey.
I started out in hospitality. The bars, hotels, and restaurants that became a second home for an entire generation of immigrants learning a new country from the inside out. From there I built my way into corporate life, spending fifteen years inside a large international fintech company — moving across departments, learning different sides of the business. For the past year I have been leading and managing a team directly.
Over twenty years of working with people from every corner of the world taught me one thing above everything else: what matters is always character. Never where someone is from, what language they grew up speaking, or what their job title says. Always who they are underneath all of that.
Why I am here
I started using AI tools at work. And even I — someone who would not call himself a skilled AI user — was able to accomplish in minutes what used to take hours of focused effort. Shortly after, I watched the first rounds of redundancies begin. Back office roles. Good people. Gone. Not because they did not work hard. Because an algorithm now did what they did, faster and cheaper.
I thought — how long before it reaches me?
I fear losing my job in the next few years and not being able to find adequately paid work to maintain a good life for my kids. I am getting older in a world moving faster. That gap worries me every single day.
But I also believe that fear, when you face it honestly, becomes a starting point rather than a dead end. That is why this blog exists. To give you, with the help of AI of course, different ideas of making money without having an office 9-5 job that will very likely be replaced by automation (AI).
What I believe
A good career matters. It pays the mortgage, feeds the children, and funds the life you are trying to build. I am not here to tell you otherwise.
But I also believe a good life requires more than career alone. I know this because I have sat outside our family log cabin at night, nestled in the middle of a forest, fire burning, the world completely silent except for the sounds of the forest — and looked up at the stars. In that moment I felt two things at once. How small we are. And how extraordinary it is to be here at all.
One of my deepest fears about the AI revolution is not just the economic one. It is that in the scramble to adapt and survive, people lose that connection — to nature, to each other, to the things that make security worth having — without even noticing it happening.
About AI and this blog
I use AI to help build everything here. The research, the drafts, the structure. I want to be completely transparent about that.
But here is what I also want you to understand. Using AI well is not as simple as typing a question and copying the answer. Every piece of content on this blog has gone through hours of reading, questioning, rewriting, fact-checking, and decision-making. The AI generates. I direct, challenge, correct, and decide what is true to my voice and what is not.
That process — the human steering the machine rather than the machine replacing the human — is the core idea behind everything I write here. It is the Human Advantage in practice, not just in theory.
Yes, I use AI. But I still make it real. And that is exactly what I want to help you learn to do too.
Who this blog is for
It is for you if you are worried about the same things I am and do not yet know what to do about it. It does not matter where you are from or what you do. What matters is whether you recognise yourself in any of this.
- You feel the ground shifting under your career and want practical steps, not empty advice.
- You want to build something that cannot be automated away — a skill, an income stream, something genuinely yours.
- You want someone to be honest with you about what AI can and cannot do — and about what it actually takes to use it well.
- You want to secure your future without losing sight of what makes that future worth securing.
I do not have all the answers. I am figuring this out at the same time you are. But I will share everything I learn — with complete honesty about the things that work and the things that do not.
Welcome to Human Advantage.
